Third and fourth grade spent the day at Port Farms yesterday! They had a blast picking out pumpkins, exploring the corn maze, riding the go carts, and jumping on the Jumpkin Patch! We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful fall day! #MTA #FallFun 🎃🍂
Kindergarten did some "play" time in math class for P-day! It was all hands-on activities to help scholars recognize, represent, write and count to numbers zero to five! They had a blast and could not believe they were allowed to write in their desks! They also worked together on their "partner" reading for P-day! Science students used VR headsets in class and were able to hold hearts in their own hands! They were able to see and touch what they have been studying, such as the aorta, aortic valve, and the pulmonary valve, just to name a few. #MTA #Science ♥
Kindergarten, first and second grade went on a field trip to Port Farms last Thursday! It was such a beautiful day! The kids got to pick their pumpkins from the patch, enjoyed a hayride to see all the scarecrows, play on the playground, and jump on the giant Jumpkin Patch! #MTA #FallFun 🎃🍂
Last week, Mother Teresa Academy and Cathedral Preparatory School students went to City Hall for an award presentation. These boys are involved in the Police Athletic League, where they interact with officers regularly to build community relations. Sgt. Szoszorek received the Jason Belton Community Service Award for her passion and dedication to the youth in the City of Erie. These boys have built a positive relationship with Sgt. Szoszorek and were able to help celebrate this achievement. The students also had their pictures taken with the Eastern League Championship trophy that the Erie Seawolves won recently. #Prep #MTA #Service
Estus Barnes was recently named the Athletic Director for Mother Teresa Academy. In addition to continuing his role as the game & event coordinator at Cathedral Prep’s Hagerty Family Events Center, Mr. Barnes will be scheduling games, managing parent engagement, and coordinating coaching recruitment efforts for MTA. First grade had slime day on Friday! Students learned about different types of measurement and how to measure the different ingredients. They were excited to see the slime change forms from liquid to solid. They said it was the best day! #MTA
MTA Science classes learned all about air pressure to close out last week. Students were crushing cans using air pressure from heated liquids. Students screamed with excitement as the cans imploded in front of their eyes! #MTA #Science 🧪

Making math make sense! Third grade used place value mats and chips to build numbers, making it easier to "see" the value. Skittles are used to build multiplication arrays as an introduction into to fascinating world of multiplication and division! #MTA #Math ✖➗
Kindergarten created one of Mrs. Rodgers favorite lessons of the year in Art class yesterday: apple printing! Students have begun ABC bootcamp and, as usual, Mrs. Vella and Mrs. Rodgers always love collaborating to make things more fun throughout the week for our students. Students learned about the star inside of an apple, talked about the different colors that apples come in, and learned how to create a good print by pressing and not twisting their apples. These prints always turn out so cool! #MTA #CreateAnyway 🍏🍎
Kindergarten kicked off ABC Bootcamp with an Apple Fest! They met Super Vowel A, taste-tested red, green, and yellow apples, made their own applesauce (they decided store bought was better), tried apple juice and apple cider, and finished the day with apple pie! #MTA #ABCBootcamp 🍎🍏
Our Garden Club was busy last week preparing the vegetable boxes for winter. The girls also found a praying mantis and decided to keep it as a classroom pet! #MTA #GardenClub 🪴
First grade took a break last week and created some bead jewelry and doodle art using marbles with Mrs. Rodgers! Doodles were created by using a marble that the students pushed around on their papers and created crazy shapes and wiggly lines. Students got to work on their fine motor skills, as they created their bead jewelry and marble drawings as they are both ALL about focus and training our hand muscles! They were all smiles as they took their bead hearts and sculptures home with them! #MTA #CreateAnyway 📿
Kindergarten learned about paintbrush rules and keeping their paint brushes on the tips of their hairs in art class yesterday! They watched a Mr. Paintbrush video and practiced all the rules, like not smashing his hair, wiping the extra water (or paint) off your brush, holding the paintbrush correctly, and putting them away! They were AWESOME artists and created disappearing artworks using water and purple paper! Great job MTA artists, next comes real paint!! #MTA #CreateAnyway 🖌
It has been a great start to the school year at MTA! Today, fifth grade learned all about sound in science class. They learned how sound is created and how it travels. They finished the lesson off making string telephones. #MTA #Science 📞
