Yesterday, we celebrated the upcoming solar eclipse and dressed in a blackout across the school! Students received their solar eclipse glasses so they can safely view the astronomical highlight of 2024! Have a wonderful spring break and remember to watch the solar eclipse on April 8! #MTA #SolarEclipse2024

Today, eighth grade used Cheez-It crackers to prove the Pythagorean Theorem! They determined it took 16 crackers to fill the area of square a, and nine to fill the area of square b. All the crackers were then used to fill the area of square c, proving why the Pythagorean Theorem is a^2+ b^2= c^2. #MTA #Math 🧀

Second grade has been working on poetry portfolios for the past month and they just wrapped them up today. They worked so hard and completed eight different poems to add to their portfolio! #MTA #Poetry 📖

As we gear up for Easter Break, we wanted to take some time to reflect on Saints Celebrate Reading Week that kicked off this month! We are so grateful to the many readers we had stop by to read us all the fun and amazing books! #MTA #SaintsCelebrateReadingWeek 📚

In honor of Catholic Schools Week in February and to celebrate the theme of the week, “United in Faith and Community,” we had school-wide penny war. The students in the winning classroom were promised the opportunity to donate all the funds raised to a local charity of their choice. First grade pulled out the win and chose to donate the total funds raised throughout the school to Emma’s Footprints. Earlier this week, we presented the organization with a check for $864.53. Great job, Saints! #MTA #Community

Kindergarten did not catch the leprechauns! They did, however, trashed our room, made our toilets green, took our coins and lucky charms! They also wrote us a note in rainbow popsicle sticks, "You can not catch me!" They left us magic rocks telling us better luck next time! The magical rocks were washed off with the leprechaun's magic water, and they bubbled up and revealed our coins!! Next year leprechauns...next year! #MTA #StPatricksDay ☘

Middle school completed an escape room today! They had a leprechaun visit and destroy the room before classes! Students had to team together to complete different challenges to help trap the leprechaun. Challenges that included authors purpose, text structure and context clues! Students who completed the challenge helped trap the leprechaun, while those who didn’t had to help clean up the mess he made. #MTA ☘

Middle school science classes were busy dissecting owl pellets in class yesterday. Students were able to see what an owl consumes. Many bones were found, including skulls of mice and voles! #MTA #Science 🦉

Yesterday was Pi Day! Ms. Nolan’s seventh and eighth grade math classes celebrated the occasion. Seventh grade familiarized themselves with the first 40 digits of pi by creating pi skylines and cityscapes. Eighth grade used their measuring skills calculate pi. Students measured the circumference and diameter of circular objects, then divided these measurements to get (approximately) pi, 3.14. #MTA #PiDay math

Kindergarten is gearing up for St. Patrick’s Day! They made their own leprechaun traps in hopes of catching a leprechaun! Also, they built bridges to hold all the leprechaun’s gold! #MTA #StPatricksDay ☘️
