Kindergarten’s elf Tinsel hid Polar Express tickets and candy canes for them this morning!! He left Mrs. Vella a voicemail telling them to use flashlights to find the goodies, so they didn't wake the adults. Tinsel and Olaf were playing with the Polar Express train and left them the book to read too!! They found everything! #MTA #HolidayFun 🚂

Today, kindergarten had to save Astro Nova from Planet Orange. You see, her partner left her behind and the aliens began to attack her and she began to turn orange! If they didn't work together quickly, Astro Nova would be gone to Plant Orange forever!
They first became astronauts and found their partners, binding them together. They worked together with their legs tied together to make sure they don’t lose each other!
They went through seven different tasks leading them to the combination to unlock the bags that held the special tools to save Astro Nova! However, they had to watch out for the aliens that would freeze them and keep them from solving the puzzles!
They had to count, sort, classify and build with objects! They worked together and saved Astro Nova, unlocking oranges and cheese poofs! #MTA #Learning #Fun 🚀🌌

Earlier this week, first grade spent time learning about Thanksgiving. They read books about the first Thanksgiving and how we have formed our own traditions since then. They spent the day exploring centers, including making necklaces and building turkeys from different materials. Their favorite activity was pretending to be pilgrims by dying socks from the dyes of red cabbage and spinach! #MTA #ThanksgivingFun 🦃

The turkey once again paid a visit to MTA today as we get ready for Thanksgiving! Kindergarten read "How to Catch a Turkey" before embarking on a turkey feather scavenger hunt! The scavenger hunt led them to the gym where they had to take part in an obstacle course. There, they were tasked with completing the course and catching the turkey! Little did they know, the turkey brought her friend too! So, they caught both! #MTA #ThanksgivingFun 🦃

Second grade enjoyed a non-traditional “Classgiving Feast” on Friday to celebrate learning about the first Thanksgiving. They enjoyed many different treats donated by their parents and listened to a wonderful story about kindness and friendship as they shared time and food with their classmates. #MTA #Classgiving 🦃

Second, third and fourth grade took a trip to Penn State Behrend’s Yahn Planetarium today to learn about our solar system, planets and constellations! Students had a chance to explore different space themed activities and watched a video about our solar system. #MTA #FieldTripFun 🌎🚀🌌

In art last week, Kindergarten learned about who veterans are, what Veterans Day is and why we celebrate it. Students learned about the symbolism of our American flag and created their own using mixed media! Students got to work their finger muscles to rip paper and showed off their stamping skills to make their stars! We love seeing how each student's work is unique and so creative! Thank you to all veterans who have served and are still serving. #CreateAnyway #ThankYouVeterans

We are grateful for the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve to protect our country. Today, and every day, we thank you for your service. #MTA #SaluteToService #VeteransDay

Kindergarten put on their ABC Bootcamp Fashion Show for their families earlier this month! Our little Saints each wore outfits that represented a letter of the alphabet. Their outfits also had caricatures of things that started with that letter. They got to show off their outfit and dance moves down a down the star-studded runway! #MTA #ABCBootcamp #FashionShow 🔠🌟

Second grade talked ALL about the color wheel in Art today! Students reviewed the order of the colors, which colors are primary and secondary, and could even tell Miss. Nordlund how they are mixed from their pervious classes. They talked about how color surrounds us in our classrooms, homes and communities and how it can influence us. After that AMAZING discussion, Miss. Nordlund set the students to the task of searching the art room for objects that we could put into their own Visual Color Wheel. Each table was assigned their own color and had to retrieve the objects and place them into the correct place on the classroom color wheel. They did this so well, and then they even put everything back to where it belonged in the classroom! Good work young artists, and good job taking care of your art classroom and materials! #MTA #CreateAnyway 🎨
