Fourth grade learned about figurative language last week in reading class! They had the chance to use the outdoor classroom to write sentences about nature that use alliteration, personification, onomatopoeia, and many more types of figurative language! The sunny day and warm breeze were a perfect spark for their creativity. #MTA #FigurativeLanguage 📝

Kindergarten learned about Earth Day on Friday and why it is so important to keep it clean! They made hats and then went outside to pick up trash around our school! What a great way to not only help our school, but Earth! #MTA #EarthDay 🌎

After learning about hermit crab diet, habitat, needs, and proper care, first grade finally got their hermit crabs! The kids helped creating a good environment for the hermit crabs to quickly get accustomed to. We haven’t decided on names yet but, we have come up with lots of ideas like Mr. Shy Guy, Pointy, Hoppy and Greeny! #FirstGrade #HermitCrabs

From all of us at Mother Teresa Academy, we would like to wish everyone a happy and blessed Easter! #HappyEaster 🐰🐣

It's happening! This week our eighth graders started tracing out their class mural and put the first paint on the wall! Our mural program is something that our students get to look forward to taking part in as a special eighth grade project with Ms. Nordlund. This year's design was inspired by many of the things this class enjoys drawing and painting in art class: sunsets, clouds, flowers, and all things Erie, PA! We are so excited to see these students move forward with the painting progress when they return from break! #MTA #Art 🌻🌞☁

It was a beautiful day to be on the playground yesterday! Eight grade and their kindergarten buddies spent some fun time together. Our eighth graders were awesome role models and had a blast playing with their little kindergarten buddies! #MTA

The silly leprechaun tricked kindergarten again! He trashed their room with streamers and rainbows and shamrocks! The hallways were streamed! Even Papaya, the class guinea pig, was green! We think he tried to pignap him! But, he also made a special visit to Mrs. Noble’s house this morning to drop off green donuts for the class! They were so good! #MTA #StPatricksDay 🍀

Kindergarten read “How to Catch a Leprechaun” today! It challenged them to be the kid that creates the trap that catches the leprechaun. So, they accepted the challenge and created their own traps! #MTA #HowtoCatchaLeprechaun 🍀🌈

Yesterday, we celebrated Pi Day! Students read the story Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi, measuring the circumference and diameter of objects to calculate pi, and creating Pi skylines! Students enjoyed JJ’s Bakery pies donated by JTM Foods! #PiDay 🥧

Today, kindergarten listened to the story “The Leprechaun Who Lost His Rainbow!” The leprechaun’s name was Roy G. Biv, which they found out was a secret message reminding them the order of the colors in the rainbow! They then created rainbow chains and made sure to practice their counting! #MTA 🌈

Yesterday, first grade used macaroni as commas! Ms. Szoszorek has been teaching them how to use commas when listing things and writing dates. Everyone was very excited to see how macaroni can be used other than making mac and cheese! #MTA

Seventh grade put their measurement and proportion skills to work to create enlarged scale drawings of candy wrappers. After enjoying the candy, students recorded the original height, length, and other parts of their wrappers. Students were then allowed to decide how much of an enlargement they wanted, ranging from two times up to five times the original size. Students worked hard and Ms. Nolan is so proud of the completed projects! #MTA #Math 🍫🍬

Last week, our Saints took part in Celebrate Reading Week! Students were able to participate in various activities, dress downs, and hear several friends of MTA read our favorite stories!
