Happy Father’s Day!! 🧡💙

Each year, our eighth-grade students have an opportunity to leave their mark on our school in an artistic and creative way. This year, Damarah Canady ’25 took to learning about digital art and design. “DC” spent hours working on Mrs. Rodgers’ iPad to create incredible works, and one of those became this year's mural. Many of the members of the Class of 2025 were able to put paint on the wall, but the mural was largely completed by DC and AJ Hess ’25. Mrs. Rodgers and our middle school team witnessed these two taking complete ownership of the wall and making sure it would be mostly complete before they moved on from MTA!
A HUGE thank you to all the teachers who have supported these students in getting the work done and allowing them to work on the mural during classes when their other work was completed. It was so fun to watch these two move along so quickly from start to finish, and to see them interact with our younger students when they would ask about the work. This mural is located upstairs in the middle school wing of our school right next to Mr. Conley's room. Art has an amazing way of connecting people, and this mural was an amazing way to end the school year. We are so proud of the Class of 2025! What a year! #MTA #Art #Classof2025 🎨🖌️

Elementary school students enjoyed some fun in the sun yesterday with a water day! It was a great way to spend one of the last days of school! #MTA #WaterDay 💧

Actor Walker Scobell visited MTA today! He plays the role of Percy Jackson in the “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series on Disney+ and has also starred in “The Adam Project” and “Secret Headquarters.” He talked about balancing work and school, how he became an actor, and some of his favorite memories of being in show business. Students also had the opportunity to ask him questions. Fifth grade is also currently reading the Percy Jackson series in class! We are so thankful and lucky to have had him visit today! #MTA 🔱

Our students took part in one of our favorite events yesterday - Sports Day!

They ended organized games with hula hoop relays, an all-classes tug of war, and all-school sharks and minnows!

Middle school students visited the Hagen History Center yesterday. Students participated in a guided tour, including one of the beautiful Watson-Curtze Mansion, and spent time learning more about the history of Erie. #MTA

To finish out their Pythagorean theorem unit, eighth grade created spiral projects. Students started with one right triangle with two one-inch sides. Students used the hypotenuse of that triangle as the leg of the next triangle, repeating this process to create at least 14 right triangles. Students then had the freedom to create their own design with the triangle spiral inside. #MTA #Math 📐

Third and fourth grade have been learning about bacteria this year. This week, students had the chance to use their knowledge in a science experiment. Using sterile cotton swabs, students swabbed surfaces around the school and wiped them on agar plates. Two days later, they counted their bacteria colonies and looked at them under a microscope! #MTA #Science 🧫🦠

Third and fourth grade were able to enjoy the sunshine and feel the sand between their toes at Shades Beach! Students had fun looking for beach glass, discovering cool rocks, digging in the sand, and playing on the playground! #MTA #SpringFun 🏖🌞

First and second grade had a beautiful day at the Erie Zoo on Friday! Our classes enjoyed seeing all the animals, riding the merry-go-round, and spending time in the sunshine together! #MTA #Community 🐯🐒
