The Season of Lent has begun! We celebrated our weekly mass on Wednesday in observance of Ash Wednesday with Fr. Mike DeMartinis. The ashes come from blessed palms from Palm Sunday of the previous year to symbolize penance and repentance. May everyone have a blessed Lenten season! #MTA #Lent ✝️

Congratulations to second grade! They raised the most money in the entire school for our Catholic Schools Week fundraiser and chose Happy Bark as their charity. Happy Bark is an amazing organization that rescues dogs from Kentucky and helps them find their forever home right here in the Erie area. Extra special shoutout to Happy Bark for helping Ms. Fuhrman find and adopt her puppy, Lue! Way to go Saints! We closed out Catholic Schools Week last week with some fun activities! On Thursday, we did class bracelet making where our middle school students teamed up with our elementary students to make bead bracelets. Third and fourth graders are learning all about the formation of snowflakes! They made crystals, which are the building blocks of snowflakes, out of Borax, pipe cleaners, and hot water. Lessons on how other variables like temperature and wind affect the shape were also presented. Looking at them through a microscope was especially cool! #MTA ❄️🔬

Our fourth annual “Winter Wonderland” holiday concert was held last Thursday and Friday. The Fifth Grade Ukulele Ensemble hit the stage with some fun tunes, including “Blue Christmas” and “Run, Rudolph, Run.” The “Singing Saints” gave us a tremendous rendition of “Mary, Did You Know.” Eighth Grade Percussion Jam jammed out to “Carol of the Bells” and “Holly Jolly Christmas.” The Third and Fourth Grade Chorale closed out the night by spreading Christmas cheer with “The Holly and the Ivy” and “Welcome Christmas.” First and second grade kicked it off on Friday with their set, including songs “Boogie of the Bells” and “Must Be Santa.” Third and Fourth Grade Chorale presented their set from the night before. Guests were also treated to cookies and treats! Happy holidays everyone! #MTA #WinterWonderland 🎄❄🎅🤶⛄

Ms. Fuhrman's class had so much fun making gingerbread houses as part of their STEM lesson this week! Students worked in teams to plan how they were going to build and decorate their houses. The class talked about what design plans worked well and what didn’t and received a sweet treat once they were done. Great teamwork second grade! #MTA #STEM
